Pope Benedict: Teh gays a threat to peace

Wow. We've been accused of a lot of things before, but does the Pontiff really think we're the cause of violence around the world?
"Those who are hostile, even unknowingly, to the institution of the family ... make peace fragile for the entire national and international community," the Pope told crowds gathered in a sunny St. Peter's Square.

"I wanted to shed light on the direct relationship that exists between the family and peace in the world," the Pope said.

"The family is the primary agent of peace and the negation or even the restriction of rights of the family ... threatens the very foundations of peace."
The irony, of course, is that internationally so many gays and lesbians are in fact involved in the peace movement. If only the Pontiff would turn his peace-lovin' attention toward the religious right who preach hate and intolerance. That is the true threat to "the very foundations of peace," sir.

What you say is SO true! (I was going to write that you are right... but the connotation of right and politics was uncomfortable.)

GEE WHIZ, there are so many nuances to such a brief comment. i don't know where to start. such thinking is hilarious and makes for great comedy.
1. most families i know are primary agents of violence.
i mean that both jokingly and seriously.
2.what threat to peace does he mean? does he mean the violence against gay people from hetero people? as in "it's the gay persons fault that made someone want to beat him/her"
that's like saying "it's the womans fault that made him want to rape her"
3. rights of the family? i see the rights of the family being whittled away every day by both government and religion.
4. what is the definition of "family?"
5. "threates the very foundations of peace" ........ wha?
i can't even begin to understand this rhetoric.
don't get me wrong . i'm all for church, religion, families and peace, but this meaningless even hurtful rhetoric is totally counter productive.
maybe thats what this very old man wants
