Minimum wage goes up today

Finally, some good news: The minimum wage rises 70 cents to $5.85 an hour today, the first increase in a decade.

I mean, I know that's good news, but who the hell can live on $5.85 an hour? A person working 40 hours a week at $5.85 makes $12,168 a year — before taxes. Fortunately, many states have enacted minimum wage laws higher than the federal standard. Read more about your state here.

Yeah it sorta pissed me off that they all lied and agreed they would work for minimum wage during the debates last night. What a freakin' stunt. Know what I would have said?

"I'm not going to lie here. Hell no, I wouldn't. I have a college degree and therefore should be making well above minimum wage. I don't do a minimum wage job."

Wouldn't it have been awesome if somebody had said they would work for free for 4 years? They're all millionaires, some several times over.
