Finally, someone has the nerve to say it: The dude's crazy, man!

Kucinich met today with the Philadelphia Inquirer's editorial board and stated his concern over President Bush's chucklefest last week, when Bush laughed and warned of World War III. Today Kucinich said:
"I seriously believe we have to start asking questions about his mental health. There's something wrong. He does not seem to understand his words have real impact.Amen to that, brother.
You cannot be a president of the United States who's wanton in his expression of violence. There's a lot of people who need care. He might be one of them. If there isn't something wrong with him, then there's something wrong with us. This, to me, is a very serious question."

Those crazy Californians: Kucinich tops other Dem Presidential leaders in key CA straw poll
According to AfterDowningStreet:
SAN MATEO, CA - Despite millions of campaign dollars being spent by the poll-leading Democratic Presidential candidates to woo California voters, Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich scored a stunning second-place finish in a bell-weather Presidential straw poll here today.Read more here.In a caucus-like setting open to all Democratic voters in the state, Kucinich came in significantly ahead of top-spenders Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and only slightly behind former U.S. Senator John Edwards.
Official results released by the San Mateo County Democratic Party this evening showed that Edwards received 29% of the total votes cast, Kucinich received just under 24%, and Obama and Clinton came in third and fourth, with 22.5% and 16.8% respectively. The other Democratic candidates were all in the low single digits.

ABC News playing favorites with its coverage?
From the Kucinich campaign:
The Kucinich campaign is still awaiting an official response from ABC News about the unexplained – some have charged “inexplicable” — way in which the network has handled its post-debate online coverage of Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich over the past few days.
Among the “outrages“ that have energized tens of thousands of Kucinich supporters - and even non-supporters - thousands of whom have flooded the ABC News website and other online news sites with comments of protest:

Among the “outrages“ that have energized tens of thousands of Kucinich supporters - and even non-supporters - thousands of whom have flooded the ABC News website and other online news sites with comments of protest:
- Congressman Kucinich was apparently deliberately cropped out of a “Politics Page” photo of the candidates.
- Sometime Monday afternoon, after Congressman Kucinich took a commanding lead in ABC's own on-line “Who won the Democratic debate” survey, the survey was dropped from prominence on the website.
- ABC News has not officially reported the results of its online survey.
- After the results of that survey showed Congressman Kucinich winning handily, ABC News, sometime Monday afternoon, replaced the original survey with a second survey asking “Who is winning the Democratic debate?”
- During the early voting Monday afternoon and evening, U.S. Senator Barack Obama was in the lead. By sometime late Monday or early Tuesday morning, Congressman Kucinich regained the lead by a wide margin in this second survey.
- Sometime Tuesday morning, ABC News apparently dropped the second survey from prominence or killed it entirely.
- AND, as every viewer of the nationally televised Sunday Presidential forum is aware, Congressman Kucinich was not given an opportunity to answer a question from moderator George Stephanopoulos until 28 minutes into the program.
The campaign submitted objections and inquiries to ABC News representatives on Monday and Tuesday. ABC News representatives have failed to respond — or even acknowledge — those objections and inquiries.

Kucinich grills Rumsfeld on 'cover up' at Tillman hearing

Rumsfeld tries his usual dodges of the questions and vague responses, but Kucinich doesn't let him off. He calmly persists with his question, rephrasing, repeating, and persisting so that Rumsfeld can't slime his way out of it. My favorite exchange between them:
“Was there a Department of Defense press strategy with respect to the war?” the Ohio Democrat asked.Go Dennis!
“If there was, it obviously wasn't very good,” Rumsfeld quipped back.
The Rumsfeld remark drew Kucinich's ire.
“Well you know maybe it was very good because you actually covered up the Tillman case for awhile, you covered up the Jessica Lynch case, you covered up Abu Ghraib, so something was working for you,” he said. “So something was working for you.”
Rumsfeld angrily denied any cover up “on this matter.”

The Clinton - Edwards Plan: Eliminate Rival Candidates from Future Presidential Debates
I expected better from both the Clinton and the Edwards campaigns, but they were caught on a live mike conspiring to eliminate their opponents from future debates.
“We should try to have a more serious and a smaller group,” Edwards is heard to say into Clinton's ear.
Clinton agreed, according to both print reports and video footage. “We've got to cut the number. ... They're not serious.”
Dennis Kucinich may not have much of a shot at winning the Democratic nomination for president, but he is playing a vital role in these debates. He is forcing the front-runners to address important issues that they would rather avoid. Who else among these candidates is calling for impeachment? Repealing the Patriot Act? Universal health care? Gay rights (including the right to marry)?
It is not up to the front runners to decide who speaks to the American public. Maybe Clinton and Edwards have been in contact with the Bush Administration for too long. Some of that “we're better than you” attitude starting to rub off on 'em.
Watch it for yourself

Cheney impeachment bill gains yet another co-sponsor
Congratulations to Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia! (A good guy, used to be my mayor when I lived in Alexandria, and we all knew then he was headed for bigger and better things.)
From The Raw Story:
On Tuesday, a northern Virginia Democrat decided to add his support to a growing movement in the House of Representatives to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney.
A spokesman for Rep. Jim Moran told RAW STORY that the congressman had decided to co-sponsor the impeachment bill introduced in April by Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio. When he announced the bill, Kucinich, who is currently seeking the Democratic nomination for president, said that he wouldn't push his fellow lawmakers to sign on. But the bill has gradually gained support since then, garnering at least 10 co-sponsors, including Moran, according to the Library of Congress. AfterDowningStreet.org lists 12 co-sponsors to the impeach-Cheney bill.
Despite vocal protestations on and off-the-record by Democratic Congressional leaders, the movement to impeach Cheney or President Bush has begun to pick up steam. According to a recent poll, a majority of Americans favor the vice president's ouster from office, and anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan announced that she would run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi if the San Francisco Congresswoman does not introduce articles of impeachment within the next two weeks.
A group of progressives in California opened an "Impeachment Center" on Independence Day to serve as a clearinghouse for information and activism, while another group is planning to fly a pro-impeachment banner over AT&T Park in San Francisco before Tuesday's All Star Game.
Additionally, a rally is scheduled for July 23, which will include a march by demonstrators, including Sheehan, from Arlington National Cemetery to Rep. John Conyers' Capitol Hill office. Conyers, D-Mich., is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, which would consider Kucinich's impeachment bill before deciding if it should go to the full House.
Conyers said in an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC over the weekend that he hoped the rising public sentiment in favor of impeaching Bush and Cheney would lead the president to be more cooperative with congressional investigators he has so far continued to stonewall.
“I didn't put impeachment on the table,” Conyers said on This Week. “I was just telling you that 46% of the American people polled want Bush impeached.”

The majority of Americans support the impeachment of Vice President Cheney
According to a poll released Friday by the American Research Group, 54% of adults favor proceeding with impeachment proceedings against Cheney
In case you have any doubts about the basis for impeaching Cheney (!) please watch the following video clip from Robert Greenwald. It includes an excellent collection of Cheney's lies and deceit.
Crooks and Liars has more. You can also read about Rep. Dennis Kucinich's bill for impeachment (H.R. 333) at his site.

A Voice of Reason — The Man From Ohio

Carlson, of course, kept trying to set up Kucinich with claims that he didn't hear specifics from "you or any of the other Democratic candidates." Kucinich calmly replied with specifics. Why doesn't Carlson, or any of the other talking heads, ask the White House for specifics? See the interview with Kucinich for yourself.
Kucinich gets tagged in the mainstream media with being a "fringe" candidate, one who's "out there." Come on, people — just how petty are we? Yes, he's short and has big ears. But I think if you watch the interview, you'll be amazed to finally hear an honest candidate who has a real plan to get us out of Iraq now.
